The sources of sin come from the works of Satan, mans corrupted heart, lust, Adam’s transgression, and the beginning of life. Sin comes to all human beings because of the first sin of mankind through Adam. If it would be possible for a newborn to never sin, that newborn would still be born into sin because of Adam’s transgression. That is why it is completely impossible for a person within this world to be sin free. A person is born a sinner and must die because he is a sinner. This chapter identifies the different places that sin originates.
John 8:38-45 (KJV)
I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father. They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham. But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God. Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. 33. The devil is a source of sin. His contribution to sin includes lust, murder, and lies.
34. If a person has the sins of the devil, he cannot love Jesus, cannot understand the message of Jesus, or cannot hear the Word of Jesus.
Matthew 15:16-20 (KJV)
And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
35. Sin comes from a defiled person’s heart. It is what comes from a person‘s heart, not what goes into a person’s mouth that creates sin.
James 1:13-15 (KJV)
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
36. Sin comes from the lust of a person. Evil causes desire through allurement and deceit. A person lusts after that which is evil, and sins.
37. When a sin continues unabated, it will bring death to the defiled person.
38. The LORD God cannot be tempted with evil.
39. The LORD God never tempts any man with evil.
Romans 5:12-14 (KJV)
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
40. Sin entered the world through Adam. Because of this first sin, death was passed upon all men.
41. Death was the result of sin for those even those who were unaware of what sin was. The law was given to Moses by the LORD God. After man received the law, they became accountable to the law, however, the men that were alive before the time of Moses received the same penalty of death for their sins, as the people of Moses afterwards. The wages of sin are death, for all men, regardless of their awareness of a specific sin.

Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

A person’s status as a sinner is greatly multiplied when his lust starts directing his path. Satan is then able to easily direct that person’s path into the deepest darkness of sins to ensure his everlasting death and eternal damnation. Beware of lust!
Expectations of Christians regarding the avoidance of the sources of sin:

4 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; 2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. 3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: 4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you: 5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead. 6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
